Who is the artist My name is Ellie and I was born in Scotland in 1953. I am a true Scottish Lassie. I moved to Angus nr Aberdeen in 2007 to spend time in the country. This is me finishing my latest artwork SHIP AHOY. I have always been interested in art since the age of twelve. I was given paints when I was 19yrs of age and I spent most of my evenings learning what I could from books and trial and error as there were no computers then, not like now where you can go online and get a lesson for free at you tube etc. I started selling right away. Since then, I have spent over 40 years painting and selling my works throughout the United Kingdom. I also have my work exhibited locally, from which I have also sold many. I love to indulge in many different art forms; including collages and beach scenes using natural materials, shells and sand collected worldwide, murals, acrylics, oils, silk painting and glass painting. At the moment I am concentrating on miniature work, which, I find very challenging. Creating miniature art can be extremely painstaking with a narrow margin of error, often the paint being such a small amount, dries before I can get it into the right area. My inspiration comes from photographs, that I have taken using my digital camera, I then use my computer to create an image using the zoom and crop tools, before erasing the unimportant background parts, leaving the image ready to concentrate on the finer details. The hand painted miniature created from these images ensures that each work of art has a uniqueness of its own. I add texture to the acrylic paint to give the final touch for that 3D effect to the image. Observers of my work are always amazed at how tiny and detailed the paintings actually are in real life, versus what they see online or in print. |
